Essential Oils for Sinus and Seasonal Threats

Essential oils for sinus and seasonal threats become very useful as the weather changes and we often experience changes and responses in our body.

We are going to share some great natural tips with you here so you can support your body with out the need for chemicals.

There are many essential oils for sinus support that we are excited to share with you but before we get into that there’s two important topics we need to highlight first.

Inflammation and Immune System!

In our home we work on one moto and that is it do our best to keep inflammation in our body low and the immune system strong.

Lets first dive into the things we have to be mindful of here and then let’s chat essential oils.

Inflammation as a precursor to Sinus Health

Natural support for sinus and seasonal threats with essential oils

Often sinus discomfort or allergies are a response to inflammation in the body. It’s the bodies way of telling you that something isn’t right.

Commonly an intolerance or reaction can produce sinus symptoms and congestion.

We ‘may have itchy eyes, we can be feeling congested, or even have a sore throat.

If this is the case, addressing the cause of inflammation will go a long way to supporting the severity of those symptoms.

The great thing about supporting inflammation in the body. is you can do that every single day.

Each day you get to influence the level of inflammation in your body just by the choices that you make.

Food. is a great example.

Your food choices can cause inflammation in the body and a lot of people become inflamed when they eat gluten.

Even wheat, dairy and processed sugar.

There’s so many different types of foods that our bodies can be intolerant to or can cause an inflammatory response.

So think about it. be aware. be conscious, and be really mindful about what happens when you eat certain foods.

The next thing is to reduce chemical exposure.

Chemicals cause inflammation in our body, and we’re surrounded by chemicals each and every day.

You can be reducing your chemical exposure in many ways just by addressing the items listed below:

By using natural options or making your own DIY with natural ingredients you will be significantly reducing your chemical exposure every single day.

And in turn this reduces the inflammation in your body.

Also look at what you are drinking? Are you drinking filtered water? Or is a tap water? Tap water has fluoride, chlorine, arsenic, lead, pharmaceuticals and other chemicals within it.

These chemicals cause inflammation in the body.

Are you supplementing with whole foods or are you supplementing with artificial supplements? Artificial supplements add to the chemical load on your body and contribute to inflammation.

In addition, to remain really healthy, we want to be having good sleep and we want to remain hydrated, each and every day.

Immune Factors as a precursor to Sinus Health

The second thing is all about the immune system. we want to keep the immune system as robust as we possibly can. very similar to inflammation, they do work hand in hand.

You do have to be mindful of the foods we eat.

Eating vegetables and fruits will support the body.

Support inflammation in the body naturally

Some foods will suppress the immune system such as fatty foods, fast foods, junk foods, processed sugar as well as alcohol and coffee are all contributing factors.

Then we can look at supplements.

Supplements that are good quality and made from wholefoods will support immune function and as discussed above, support a healthy inflammatory response also.

Hydration, and good quality sleep are key for the immune system.

Zinc, magnesium, good quality vitamin c, colloidal silver and elderberry are also really supportive as well.

And again, removing chemicals in the body is important too, because chemicals suppress the immune system.

Something as simple as a perfume can suppress the immune function.

An artificial perfume, sprayed our body each and every day will suppress our immune system. Need some ideas for alternatives click here.

So there’s two things you can do before we even start to look at natural support for sinuses and seasonal threats.

It is consciously and actively looking after yourself to lower the inflammation and increase immune function.

Essential Oils for Sinus

So let’s move into what I personally do to support myself through that winter season.

We can use natural products like essential oils.

Essential oils are one of my favourite natural solutions to use on a daily basis. We can use them in out homes and on our body to support our wellness and vitality each and every time it needs it.

A great way to use essential oils is to make a sinus roller.

You can put in specific essential oils that are beneficial and provide support.

A great combination is peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon, and frankincense. Place a few drops of each into a 10ml roller bottle and top it up with fractionated coconut oil.

There’s a blend called digestZen by doTERRA that we love, which is a really supportive for the sinus,.

We just place it along the outside ridge and massage it in, and that offers a great support.

You can buy a nasal diffuser and pop the lid off and drop onto the internal pad different essential oils and then place it up to your nose and breath in.

Using the nasal diffuser is going to really circulate beautifully the essential oils through the passage and help open up your airways, which is really cool.

The other thing you can do is create a sinus steam.

To do this put a couple of drops of peppermint oil, lemon oil, oregano and tea tree essential oils into a mug of hot water and you can pop your head over (make sure eyes are closed) and breath in that beautiful natural menthol from the peppermint. You will find other aromas evaporate off as well for your benefit.

This practice is going to really help release a lot off the congestion in your airways, which is really cool, and also by doing all those things I’ve just spoken about above you are going to really support the inflammation and the immune function of your body as well.

Essential Oils for Seasonal Threats

In terms of seasonal threats, lavender, peppermint and lemon are going to be your best friend.

It is great in the diffuser to be cleansing your environment.

The great thing about essential oils is they have the ability to cleanse the air.

When we’re thinking about seasonal threats and irritants, we want to be diffusing on a daily basis, so make sure you get a diffuser and pop in a few drops of lavender, peppermint and lemon.

Lavender is a natural anti histamine, so that’s a great one to put in a roller with your lemon and your peppermint and to roll it consistently on your temples, behind your ears, back of the neck, and on your wrists. Just exposing ourselves to the aromas is a great start.
